Actor Callum Turner has shared the charming story of how he met his fiancée, pop star Dua Lipa. In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the 35-year-old talked about their first moment together — and revealed a fun pickup line that broke the ice.
Turner said they met at a get-together in Los Angeles, before a mutual friend’s birthday party. He and Lipa were sitting next to each other with drinks in hand. Then they turned to chat and realised they were reading the same book — Trust by Hernán Díaz.
“I had just finished the first chapter and she looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter too.’ I said, ‘So we’re on the same page,’” Turner told The Sunday Times.
He added the moment felt like a scene from a movie: “In the movie version of it I look up to the sky and say, ‘I hear you. I understand.’”
Dua Lipa and Callum Turner are officially engaged. In an interview with British Vogue, Dua told the magazine:
“Yeah, we’re engaged. It’s very exciting… To grow old together, to see a life and just… be best friends forever – it’s a really special feeling.”
In an August 2025 interview with Harper’s BAZAAR, Dua said she feels “happier than ever” being with Turner. She spoke about love and letting her guard down:
“I love love. It is a beautiful thing… that vulnerability is so scary, but I feel so lucky to get to feel it.”
She also said her relationship with Turner is real, meaningful, and something she didn’t want to keep quiet about.
- Rumours of their relationship started in January 2024 when they were seen together in London after the premiere of Masters of the Air.
- They made their relationship “official” on Instagram in July 2025 at the Glastonbury festival.
- The couple made their red-carpet debut together at the 2025 Met Gala.
The story of them reading the same book and Turner’s clever one-liner “So we’re on the same page” struck a chord with fans. It feels genuine, romantic and literary — two people meeting by chance, sharing a moment, and connecting through a book.
