During a new interview at the BFI London Film Festival, Tessa Thompson shared some fun and honest thoughts about working with her co-star Chris Hemsworth in the Thor movies.
She called him a “baby with muscles” — meaning he’s strong, but still playful and free in how he acts. She added he has “no inhibition”, saying he’ll “just do anything … to get the laugh and to discover.”
What Did She Mean?
Thompson joked that making big superhero movies is kind of like being a kid again. She said sometimes the scenes are “so goofy” that they need imagination and freedom — you can’t always be serious all the time.
Talking about Hemsworth’s energy, she said:
- He’s willing to try wild things to make people laugh and to discover new ways to act
- He brings joy and creativity on set
- It’s a pleasure to work with someone so bold and uninhibited
She also teased director Taika Waititi, calling him “a huge infant with a bank account” — a funny way to say he’s wildly creative and childlike in spirit.
Their Shared Work in Marvel
Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth have starred together in several Marvel films: Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder, Avengers: Endgame, and more.
In this BFI talk, Thompson also talked about how challenging and freeing those Marvel films were. She said doing big action scenes and fantasy work required an “inner child” — the ability to play and experiment.
Why This Matters
This playful praise gives fans a peek behind the scenes. It shows how actors bond, laugh, and push each other creatively. Hemsworth’s willingness to take risks and Thompson’s admiration for that energy helps explain why their on-screen chemistry feels real.
